Linnet clough well what can i say linnet clough is a hard 2 an a half days but once you finish the days you get a good feeling you know you have passed linnet, some tips i would give you new people coming are:
Listen to instructions an follow timmings
Bring loads of white t shirts and a good sense of humour Eat all the food that is given to you, it is nice food
what i enjoyed was it all beacause you learn how to gel as a team an become a more efficient member of that team.
by Lewis Grocutt - Friday, 8 October 2010, 01:08 PM At linnet clough it has been good and bad on occasions. The bad ones are when your team or you are late getting somewhere, you will have to pay the price in some way. So my first tip is to always be on time and do exactly as instructed. The good things are when all your team pulls together and you do well in a task, you will be praised for it for about a second. Second tip is to always put in 110% effort in everything because when you think the staff are not looking they actually are. Also you get a feeling of pride when you have finished a PT session and tried your best. Right now I am waiting to find out if I have passed or not, it is nerve racking but I have got a good feeling because I have tried really hard.
I honestly did not know what to expect when I was on the bus heading for Linnet Clough. I was excited, nervous and felt so proud to actually be going back for a second time, this time as staff to help make a difference to those who would be going with us.
I had to honour of spending the week with 9 other amazing people, some I had never spent more than half an hour sat in a room with. They all had different strengths and weaknesses; all had different views, but all really strong characters. The positive from this is that I learnt a lot from them; how to work in a team full of strong people and learnt to listen to their ways. It basically opened my mind and made me a better team player. However during Tuesday and Wednesday of our stay, we did have some trouble within the group. Tuckman's theory of team development is spot on, and was proved by our group. Monday was our forming stage; Tuesday and Wednesday were our storming days. We had clashes of opinions where people didn’t like what others were doing and we had debates in front of the other students. We let ourselves down by doing this. Thursday and Friday were our norming and performing days where we started working together and accepting what other people were saying. We had a routine in place so we all knew exactly what we were doing.
I know that I have learnt so much from Linnet and the people who went with me. I have learnt more about who I am, and what I can do to help people and make a difference in a pressured situation. I have learnt to put others first and that with the right encouragement and handling, people can open their minds and do anything they want to. At Linnet there is no “I can’t do it”, it’s all about trying and putting 100% effort in at all times to see what you can achieve.
I loved Linnet Clough the first time I went, and I vowed that I would go back as Staff in my second year. I achieved that goal and high grades in the middle of it. From my experiences at Linnet I know I can achieve anything and will continue to do my best and aim to be the best.
On arriving at linnet clough i was very nervous because of the stories that i had herd from second years and from previous students. ill start by listing the good points that i really enjoyed. i thought the P.T sessions where hard but they were very fun and we participated in a wide veiaty of team games that created a bond between all three of the sections. we learned over the last three days how important teamwork is and how vital it is within a section. I really enjoyed the nigh exercise on Thursday night it was grate fun and a good laugh we even had the one time opportunity to water bomb the second years so yea grate stuff, the things that i found hard was the timings not my own time keeping skills but the rush for example ho have 2 minutes to get dressed into pt gear or you have 20 minutes to get showered and short your room out for room inspection so my advice would be that you really need to work together and have a real sense of urgency
Tips.
Make sure that you learn to iron because it makes life easy for you put plenty of Polish on your boots before you come it will relay help you get a shine on your boots.
Linnet clough is very hard but you learn alot about yourself. i have a few tips for the people who still have to go
On room inspection make sure toy scrub the floors in the bathroom alot because it gets dirty really quick.
Share your jobs out and all pull your weight in tasks. take warm clothes but things you dont mind gettin really dirty . Have fun because you will remember your three days at linnet for ever :D x
I have just come back from Linnet and the PT is hard at times but when you have your pass out parade you feel really proud of what youve done my tips are Practice ironing it makes life a whole lot easier work as a team eg check each others uniform before going on parade and work together to clean rooms and showers dont just leave one person to do it all pack your bag right dont put your pt kit at the bottom of your bag because sometimes the staff give you 2 mins to get changed most important pack a sense of humor and have fun or its just going to be worse
I arrived back from Linnet on Friday and it was the most fun I have had in a very long time. Linnet puts you in place and makes you gain alot more discapline towards both you and everyone else around you. It helps you to come closer to everyone on the course. Including the staff! People make out that Linnet Clough is like Hell on Earth. It really isn't. It just allows you to realise what your capable of doing as an individual (P.T) and as a team. You will come home a different person, because whilst there your attitude, posture, mannors, and teamwork skills will all improve. A few tips * Pack LOTS of white tops (more than 5) - You will get very sweaty and dirty * Pack black bin bags - more than just for you * Work as a team - remeber that NOBODY gets left behind * If you get to do the night x, make sure you wear complete black, no white stripes or reflectives on your coat trackies etc and stay as low to the floor as yuo can. Also, stay together and be very quiet. To everybody left to go there, Have fun and good luck.
First of all i would just like to thank all the staff and second years for making linnet possible and helping us achive Linnet was hard but at the same time fun we all got allot closer to each other and learnt allot about each other we also lernt how to work as a team. 5 tips for the next groups and future groups: 1) It's not a holliday camp so be prepared. 2) Take lots of clothes. 3) get your fitness up to a good level before you go. 4) Scrub the floors in the bathrooms and bed rooms. 5) just get stuck in even if you are the shyest person in the world you need to speak up and help and the loud people need to listen. Just work as a team and don't give up no matter how hard it gets just carry on and do your best. Good Luck to everyone hope you do well
